M&M Real Estate Chili Cook Off
It comes round every November, and it is the same every year. Everybody brings a crockpot, everybody argues about beans, and one person goes home with the title. 🌶️
Here is how it works. 🍛 The cooks line up along the back wall with their crockpots. 🎟️ You get one voting ticket when you walk in. 🥄 You taste your way down the line and the one you liked best gets your ticket. Most tickets wins, so the judging is you and the rest of the room. There is no panel and there are no rules about beans, which has never once stopped the argument.
Tasting is free, 11 AM to 2 PM. 💛 There is a jar out if you want to throw a few dollars in, and all of it is split among the cooks. Nobody here is making money on chili.
👨🍳 Want to compete? It is free to enter and you do not need to be a professional anything. Bring a crockpot and your best batch. We supply the table, the power, the portion cups and the spoons. Just tell us you are coming so we set out enough tables. 🙏

Portion cups and spoons are on us, so you can work your way down the whole line without committing to a bowl of anything. Come hungry. People always underestimate how much chili that is.
You are the judge
Every guest gets a voting ticket at the door. One ticket, one vote, for whichever chili you liked best. Most tickets takes it, so the winner is decided by the room rather than by us.
Cooking? Here is the setup
Tables and power are ready for you, and we provide the portion cups and spoons. Bring your crockpot, your chili and any fixings you want next to it. Please get here between 10:30 and 10:45 AM so you are set up before the doors open.
Sides are very welcome
Cornbread, chips, sour cream, cheese, whatever you think belongs next to a bowl of chili. If you would rather bring a side than cook a whole batch, say so when you RSVP and we will make room for it.
Chili Champion
One title, decided by popular vote, and it holds until next November. There is a second and a third as well, and nobody has ever remembered who they were. Previous champions are welcome to come back and defend it, and in our experience they take that extremely seriously.
Do I need to RSVP?
Please do. It tells us how many tables to set out and how many cups and spoons to buy, and if you are cooking it is the only way we know to save you a spot.
What does it cost?
Nothing. Tasting is free and entering as a cook is free. There is a donation jar out, and whatever goes in is split among the cooks.
How do I enter as a cook?
RSVP and pick "I am making chili". That is it. It is free, there is no entry form, and you do not have to be a professional anything.
What do I bring if I am cooking?
Your crockpot, your chili, and any fixings you want to put beside it. We have the tables, the power, the portion cups and the spoons. Arrive between 10:30 and 10:45 AM to set up.
How are the winners picked?
Popular vote. Every guest gets one voting ticket at the door and gives it to their favorite. The most tickets wins the Chili Champion title.
Can I bring a side instead of chili?
Yes, and people do every year. Cornbread and chips go fast. Tell us what you are bringing when you RSVP.
Can I bring people?
Please do. Bring your family, bring a neighbor, bring whoever. Just add them to your headcount when you RSVP.
Can I bring my kids?
Yes, it is a family event. There is plenty here that is not spicy, and we will say which pots are the hot ones.
Is there parking?
Yes, in the office lot and along Elk Grove Blvd. Come a few minutes early and you will not have to think about it.
Is this a sales thing?
No. Nobody is going to corner you about your home value. Scott will be there, and if you want to talk real estate he is happy to, but that is entirely up to you.
